It’s Back to School at Starlette U! Sparkle 101 - Session 1a

Hey there Superstars,

Please take your seats and take out your notebooks - the Summer of Starlette is officially over and that means school is back in session.  This semester we’re proud to be offering our Sparkle 101 course – everything you need to know about your Starlette jewelry and how it stacks up to the other options out there.

The Jewelry Industry at a Glance

Jewelry is a BIG business – one that basically dates back to the very beginning of human history on this planet.  In fact, the earliest known jewelry was discovered in 2021 deep in the Bizmoune Cave in Morocco – made from tiny snail shells and seashells strung together like beads, this prehistoric jewelry dates back 150,000 years! (World’s Oldest Jewelry | Science.org).  Today, jewelry is a $367 billion business globally and is still growing.  Rings make up about 35% of all jewelry sales, but necklaces and earrings are the fastest growing products.  A recent study by Grand View Research also showed that US consumers are increasingly favoring gemstones that are lab-created (rather than mined) and that ethical sourcing (environmental and social responsibility) is rapidly becoming an important factor in deciding what jewelry to purchase.

At a high level, the jewelry industry can be broken down into 5 main categories of jewelry:

Your Starlette jewelry falls under the "Demi-Fine" category, alongside well-known brands like Kendra Scott and Mejuri.  We also continue to bring in new features and benefits found primarily in fine jewelry.  For example, using Rhodium as our primary plating metal for silver jewelry (one of the hardest, most durable, and most expensive precious metals), adding additional durability features to make our jewelry suitable for everyday wear, and offering more limited-edition pieces.

Sneak Peek

Angela and I have also been hard at work the past 6 months in the design studio working on the FIRST EVER Starlette signature collections - the Varsity Stars Collection (designed by Angela) and The Andromeda Collection (designed by me).  These designs are unique to Starlette - which means you will not be able to find them anywhere else!  Keep an eye out for pre-order and launch announcements.

Next Class

In our next installment of Sparkle 101 we'll be diving deeper into the world of gemstones, where we'll specifically talk about the differences between diamonds and their alternatives.  So stay tuned and please post your comments and questions here!

Dream big and sparkle more,

Tim

To Wish Upon a Star

The word Starlette is defined as, “a heavenly body visible from earth”.  I have always believed that names hold tremendous power – that how we define ourselves can, and often does, shape our choice...
