What is the typical size worn by kids and teenagers?
Sizes can vary at any age, so we recommend checking your child's or teenager's size if possible. There are several free ring sizing phone apps available that can help with this. If you're not able to measure for a size, [we typically recommend Size 4 for ages 7 - 10 years and Size 5 for 9+ years old.] We include a clear rubber sizer to help if you are in-between sizes.
What are your rings made of?
Most of our jewelry is made of 925 sterling silver, plated in real rhodium or gold, and set in the setting, never glued. We also carry a selection of bracelets made of stainless steel plated in rhodium or gold. Our stones are made of AAA CZ or higher.
Will my ring tarnish?
Our jewelry is made of 925 sterling silver and is plated in rhodium or gold. Jewelry from Starlette should not tarnish. .
Why do you use AAA Cubic Zirconia?
Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is a lab created gemstone that has similar visual properties to natural gemstones in terms of the way it reflects light to create the stunning sparkle that we all love. We use CZ in a lot of jewelry because it is beautiful, versatile (CZ can be made in a variety of cuts and colors), and more environmentally and socially responsibile.
Just like other gemstones, CZ has a rating scale for quality - Starlette stones have a miminum rating of 3A. We adhere to this high standard of quality to ensure that your Starlette jewelry delivers maximum sparkle and durability, even with everyday wear. And the best part? It's more affordable than diamonds, so you can get maximum sparkle, style and quality without spending thousands of dollars.
Do you carry 1/2 sizes?
At this time, we don’t carry ½ sizes but we do have clear rubber sizers available that will help your ring fit more snugly.
What is lab-created vs simulated?
A simulated gemstone is simply one type of lab-created stone, in which the gemstone shares many of the visual properties of the natural stone, like color and sparkle, but is created from a different element and sometimes under a different process than the natural stone found in the earth.
For example, natural diamonds are formed from carbon atoms deep in the earth that bind to each other in a specific way over millions of years of intense heat and pressure. Lab-created diamonds are grown from carbon atoms using a special process that mimics the heat and pressure the earth uses to create natural diamonds - so checmically they are identical, but one forms in the ground, while the other is made in a lab. CZ is also grown in a lab, but instead of carbon, it is grown from zirconium dioxide - the result is a gemstone that simulates the look of a diamond or other colored gemstone, but is chemically different.
